This work features a much younger Marjorie (Elsley's daughter) in the same pose as used in Private and Confidential, 1906, and Miss Gomersall, c.1910. The little dog, Khaki, appears as early as 1902 in Baby's Birthday. This painting should not be confused with two works entitled Goodnight of 1911 and 1913.
